Hi there sweet crafty creators! Boy the year is flying by very quickly and already we find ourselves in Autumn, one of my favourite seasons! After a gorgeous weekend down in the beautiful Margaret River region, exploring the wonderful Busselton Jetty, Ngigli Cave, Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse, Bunker Bay, Aravina Winery and much more along the way I was taken aback by the beauty this part of Australia has to offer!
I saw so many beautiful things over the weekend that I am looking forward to bringing them to life in some of my cakes this year. Sometimes all it takes is one flower, a sunset, a field of trees, an old barrel, etc to spark the creative juices, I never quite know exactly what my end result will be when I have free range on a blank cake canvas!
This week I was lucky enough to create a beautiful wedding cake featuring soft Autumn undertones. I brought this cake to life by using metallic pastels and loved the addition of the free hand painting which I added to the bottom tier. The cake was finished off with a giant open rose for a touch of elegance. It was simple & subtle, but I'm sure you'd agree absolutely stunning! This design would also lend itself nicely a gorgeous Spring wedding cake which I might try later this year, so stay tuned.
Coming up this weekend is also Easter, so if my weeks aren't sweet enough as it is with cakes, there'll be loads of chocolate Easter eggs to feast on as well! Remember you don't always have to eat all those eggs, you can use them in delicious cakes, make ganache, mousse, puddings, etc,. Don't be too worried if you find yourself overloaded with chocolate this weekend, just head over to one of my YouTube tutorials for a great Super Moist Chocolate Cake recipe or some delicious White or Dark Chocolate Ganache!
Once again, thanks for stopping by & have an especially sweet weekend!
